A Scout is Reverent

Every time we say the Scout Oath we promise to do our duty to God. In the new year, three opportunities to help Scouts to do their duty to God are on the calendar. (Watch this publication for additional opportunities.)

The first is Scout Sunday/Jummah/ Shabbat. This year, Scout Sunday is on February 2 (always the Sunday before BSA’s birthday on the 8th), Scout Jummah begins on February 6 and Scout Shabbat begins at sundown on February 7. Try to find ways your unit can keep these special days. This can be as simple as worshiping together as a unit or as involved as you would like to get. At a minimum, try not to schedule campouts on this weekend so that Scouts and Scouters have the opportunity to worship in uniform.
